(this list is a little Brooklyn-heavy, so a Brooklyn Bridge pic felt appropriate).
So first and foremost, NYC is FILLED with incredible eats! So this list includes my favorite must-try plant-based quick bites for a short, weekend trip, and is deprived of some of my favorite, more high end eateries. However, each of these places are both veg and carnivore approved!
(Post Under Construction, More details to come!!)
Blackseed Bagels – Manhattan
You can’t go to NYC without getting a NY bagel and if you can help it, you shouldn’t go to NY without getting a NY bagel from Blackseed. I had a 30 minute debate with a British friend on my ideology that New York Bagels taste better than other bagels because of the water in New York. The jury is still out on whether this is true, but regardless of the reason, this place has some darn good bagels!
For plain bagels, my favorites are their everything bagel and their rye. For the pescatarians reading this, yes, they do have lox. However, as this is a plant-based post, I’m going to sing my praises for their almond butter and jelly bagel sandwich! so tasty in every way!
I also really loved reading a sign while I was waiting for my order and learning that they donate their day-old bagels to people with food insecurity via the Rescuing Leftover Cuisine. Another cool sustainable thing that they do is make their cookies using flour milled from unsold bagels.

Screamers Pizza – Brooklyn
100% plant-based amazingness!!! The pizza, the veg wings, the bread…everything is just…AMAZING. I’m especially a fan of their New York Pizza because its all the New York with none of the meat or dairy! Went here with meat-eating friends who both ended up getting seconds and food to go. If that doesn’t indicate that this is a tasty locale, I’m not sure what does.

Companion Cafe – Brooklyn
This adorable hole in the wall is eclectic and cozy and offers an amazing plant-based menu of sandwhiches, tea, coffee and smoothies and is FILLED with lovely greenery. This place felt particularly restorative with the plants and natural oxygen boosters since NYC is known for having a poor air count due to the traffic, congestion and pollution. Companion was the perfect place to share a meal with one of my favorite companions!
