This drink is part of my mean, green morning routine. AND it’s only three ingredients! And the best part? It takes only 2 minutes to make, and one of those minutes is merely requires you to passively wait while this baby blends!

Looking for a quick morning drink that is both delicious and noutritious?! Then look no further, because I have the frink for you! Merely blend cucumber, pineapple and water (filtered or spring) and voilà! . This tasty drink is hydrating and is packed with vitamins and nutrients from the cucumbers and pineapples.

I’m by no means a medical professional and my Stanford nutrition course likely only hit the basics, so I fact-checked with some super credible sources to give you guys the most accurate nutrition information. According to the Cleveland Clinic, cucumbers (1) Increase hydration, (2) Strengthen bones, (3) Promote gut health, (4) Help manage weight and blood sugar, (5) improve heart health and (6) protect against cancer. Further,

Per the Clinic, one serving of cucumber delivers:

  • 16.4 micrograms of vitamin K (14% daily value).
  • 147 milligrams of potassium (3% daily value).
  • 2.8 milligrams of vitamin C (3% daily value).
  • 16 milligrams of calcium (1% daily value).

According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), pineapple contains considerable amounts of bioactive compounds, dietary fiber, minerals, and nutrients and have been proven to have various health benefits, including (1) Anti-inflammatory, (2) Antioxidant activity, (3) Monitoring nervous system function, and (4) Healing bowel movement.

Per the Cleveland Clinic’s calculations, one cup of pineapple chunks will deliver:

  • Vitamin C: You’ll get about one-third of your recommended daily amount of vitamin C, which aids in tissue growth and repair. Vitamin C helps boost your immune system and may also help fight cancer, heart disease and arthritis.
  • Manganese: Pineapple has more than 100% of your recommended daily amount of this essential trace element. Manganese helps with bone formation, immune response and metabolism.
  • Fiber: Nearly 10% of your daily fiber needs are in one cup of pineapple. “Fiber is necessary for a healthy gut and can help you stave off hunger,” Zumpano says.
  • B vitamins: Pineapple gives you a healthy dose of several B vitamins, including thiamin, niacin, B6 and folate. These nutrients help your body process energy from the food you eat. They’re also critical to forming new red blood cells, which carry oxygen to your organs and tissues.
  • Various minerals: Pineapple contains several minerals your body needs for proper function, including copper, potassium and magnesium.

RECIPE

1 cup pineapple ( I usually just pre-cut a full pineapple at the begining of the week, separate about a cup of chunks into each freezer bag and then take out a serving size each day to make things even easier)

I cup, about 5 slices, organic cucumber

12 oz water

Simply blend all ingredients and enjoy!

Additional Add-ins:

Ginger: This root has anti-inflammatory properties known to boost brain function.

Turmeric: This superfood can aid in fighting viral infections like the flu. This spice also contributes to the vibrant yellow color of this drink.

Substitutions:

Celery: This drink also works well while substituting celery for cucumber. Gives a nice fresh taste and is rich in potassium, folate and vitamins A, K, and C.
